At LooLa Adventure Resort, leisure chalets and villas come with beautiful sea views and eco-friendly features.

Looking for a quick getaway from bustling Singapore? You can have an eco-holiday at LooLa Adventure Resort in Bintan for as little as $200 per person for a night, minimum two to go. Some basic toiletries are included. Just remember that “Classic Loola” chalets don’t come with air-conditioning and are equipped with solar-powered fans instead.

In fact, the entire resort – spanning 14 rooms and four dormitories – is powered by 70 solar panels. LooLa also collects rainwater that is used in toilets and takes part in eco-projects.

Its two luxury eco-villas have air-conditioning systems that run on giant blocks of ice. These are frozen in the day using solar power.

“We’re really passionate about this stuff,” owner Marc van Loo told Aerinlé. “I want to use LooLa as a test bed for affordable eco solutions that everybody can copy. We’re very keen to show that eco isn’t just good for the planet, it’s good for business too.”

The company drew a revenue of more than $1 million in 2014. It was also named as overall winner in the 2015 World Responsible Tourism Awards.

Guests won’t spend a day idling (if they don’t wish to). The resort has leisure activities ranging from beach volleyball to archery, tree climbing and even a zip line that flies into a swimming pool.
